Eyewitness Travel Guides, along with Frommer's Guides, are my go-to resources for trips to foreign destinations. I always want to get the most out of a trip, and see everything that I can in the limited amount of time that I may be there. The Eyewitness Travel Guide to Paris is a great book in that it has a lot of information in a very usable format. The book is divided into four main sections- Introducing Paris, Paris Area by Area, Traveler's Needs, and Survival Guide. The section Paris Area by Area is divided by arrondissement, or neighborhood, that Paris is divided into. Each part describes the arrondissement, has a detailed map of the area, and great detail about each attraction. The pictures in the Eyewitness Guide are great, and the descriptions of attractions are very accurate. It was very helpful to have a drawing and description of the cathedrals and museums, so we had an idea before even going of where things were located. We knew that it would be hard to see the Mona Lisa, so planned our day at the Louvre accordingly since we knew the opening time and location in the Louvre of where the Mona Lisa was hung, so were able to get to it before most people also going into the Louvre as it opened. The guide also gives insider information on how to skip the lines and what entrances to use to miss the largest crowds, the typical cost of admission, and opening days and times. (Several attractions are closed on different days during the week. For example, the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays) The map that was included in the book was also very helpful. I had also purchased a Streetwise Paris map, but used the one enclosed with the Eyewitness Travel Guide since it was easier to read and smaller to fit in my travel bag.In order to get the most of your trip to Paris, I recommend purchasing this travel guide, along with the Frommer's Guide to Paris 2012, which has some different information and different details. The two guides together give you everything that you need to know to have a great trip to Paris.

This is my sixth DK Eyewitness travel book I have purchased and they are still Great! If you want a well rounded, complete guide from you upcoming travel these are the books to get. They work as well for group or individual travel, but especially if you are going to do any walking around the area. I also bought their Top 10 book for Paris, but don't like the format as well as their normal travel guide. The normal gudie has enough of the highlights/top sites and is more logically oriented...at least foe me.
Great Guide book with lots of info and details, however a bit too heavy to carry around all day. I would recommend buying the app instead. Also hard to pull out a book while walking around in Paris. Overall though very informative and I still really like all the Eyewitness guidebook series
I brought this travel book with me to all the sights in Paris, and found it was a useful tool to have. I loved that for each sight the book provided a list of 'highlights' - when time was short I always felt like I was getting the most out of everything I saw. The map that comes with the book is helpful, too. Definitely recommend.
We are 2 weeks away from our trip to paris and this book has been so helpful for planning our trip. The map at the end of the book is amazing and the information inside the book as been as helpful as anyone on the TA board. I didn't bought anyother brand of guidebooks as I read the reviews on this one and it really hit to mark on what I was looking for. We've never been to paris, but believe this is the perfect kind of book for what we will be doing there.
This was the first guidebook I actually took to Paris. After I got lost trying to follow some directions in the book, I tried many other guides for the next five trips. Now I'm back to this new edition, because of all the color, format and variety of options, such as walking tours, cool maps and such a wealth of information. Every new issue gets better. Can't beat it. It must have been my fault I got lost. I love this book!
Pretty good book. Had lots of information of places to see and things to do. Need to add in more for places to eat and the top pastry shops around. Should also add in less touristy things to see or do. Went to Paris twice with this book and there's some information missing from the book of even major places. Nice book, but not impressed.
It is the best travel book that I have ever purchased. The pictures are a great bonus and how the book is organized is helpful. The historical information is informative and not over wordy, just enough to peak my interest. Having been to Paris twice before for two days each time, the book will be a great aide for me in deciding what I want to visit during my six day stay in Paris. Researching on the Internet is very peace meal, now I will have a foundation of information if I want to do internet searches for more information. The books actually saved me hours of Internet research so it is certainly worth the money.
